4” tall stack of business-related personal papers w/hundreds of items in total regarding show business, tax matters and legal documents pertaining to ventriloquist Edgar Bergen and his famous ventriloquist dummy Charlie McCarthy. Most are typewritten, signed in ink including some by Bergen. Includes: 1930s lawyers papers involving changing patent name from “Charlie McCarthy Inc.” name to “Edgar Bergen,” assignment of copyright, design of McCarthy, carbon contract for Universal’s “Charlie McCarthy, Detective” movie signed in ink by Bergen, pair of “Louis Marx” toy company lists noting gross/net sales, articles of incorporation, various income tax statements, check receipts and much more. Includes: contract for 1951 humorous song “Trigger’s Lament As Sung By Charlie McCarthy” signed in ink by Roy Rogers on second page of Rider w/lyrics including "Get Me Out From Under Roy Rogers - I'd Like To Ride Roy Rogers for a Change," 1951-1954 lists of guests on Bergen’s show, including act/payment. Includes: Marilyn Monroe - $1,000; Lucille Ball $1,000; Ronald Reagan $750 and $1,000; Liberace $500, $750 (twice) and $1,000 (twice); Nat King Cole $750 and $1,000; Andrews Sisters $1,000 (three times); Ginger Rogers $1,000; Rosemary Clooney $750 and $1,000 (twice); Jane Russell $1,000; Jimmy Stewart $1,000; Lucille Ball $1,000 and many more.
