Item Description
Smallest buttons are .75" and largest is 2-1/8". Group begins with a pair of identical early 20th Century portrait buttons of Zionist founder Theodor Herzl. Each has a back paper by Herman, Boston although papers are of distinctly different designs. Second button is totally clean and glossy while first has dark stain on upper left rim edge. Next is highly embossed silver luster stickpin with Herzl portrait surrounded by Hebrew text. This is probably 1950s or a bit earlier. Next is 1.25" brass medal with loop at top. Front has Star Of David enclosing some Hebrew text while outer edge in English reads "Zionist Convention." Reverse is blank except for imprint of NYC maker "S. Goldberg." Most luster off the back but with traces remaining on the front. Next is 1" real photo button picturing the Yiddish writer W.L. Perez. Button includes the date "1952/1852." Button was issued for the 100th anniversary of his birth. Next is scarce real photo button picturing Chaim Weizmann who became as the button states "The President Of Israel" in 1949 and serving until his death in 1952. Reverse has union bug back stamp. Scarce and essentially Mint. Last is a commemorative button with photographic image and facsimile signature of "Theodor Herzl." Additional text "If You Will It, It Is Not A Dream/Yeshiva University Museum, 1997." Only example we've seen. All items are at least NM and display Mint except as noted.
