9.5x10-5/8" thin artboard w/fully painted art which is signed at lower right "Jorge S." Artboard has been mounted to slightly larger sheet. Wonderful image of the April 5, 1915 boxing match that took place at Oriental Park Racetrack, Havana and saw Johnson lose his World Heavyweight Championship title to Willard. Bkg. details include stands full of spectators. Cuban and American flags can be seen atop stands. Exc. Jorge S. is primarily known for his depictions of baseball players from the Cuban, Negro and Major Leagues (see items #892-894), but he also painted some boxing subjects as seen here. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
