Item Description
Pair of 9.5x12" sheets of animation paper w/lead pencil art for proposed 1935 cartoon which was never produced that would have pitted Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy against a comical sea monster. Art is by Ferdinand Horvath, a story sketch artist at Disney from 1934 to 1937 who brought a European style to Disney's cartoons. He worked on many of the Disney shorts and did preliminary work on "Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs." First sheet, which has tiny "93" penciled in upper right corner has image area measuring 6x9.5" depicting sea monster w/one of his three arms holding newspaper w/"Hollywood Producer Needs Sea-Monster" headline, another arm holds large shell. Second sheet has tiny "94" penciled in upper right corner has image area measuring 7.25x9.5" depicting sea monster within ship, his three heads poking out of three portholes. The lead head blows into sail to move ship. Bottom margins of both sheets have streak of age spotting, but art remains clean and Exc. overall. Humorous and extremely well drawn. Historic as from an un-produced Mickey Mouse cartoon.
