Item Description
Booklet is 5.5x8.5" with 24 pages published by People's Artist, Inc. NYC and endorsed by the group "Committee To Secure Justice In The Rosenberg Case" also NYC. Written and published prior to their execution for atomic espionage, the booklet contains poems, songs and text of a letter from the author addressed to the Rosenberg's by the author Edith Segal written on the morning of the day the booklet was to be printed. Segal inscribed the inside front cover to someone about 6 weeks after the publication date. It reads: "To Betty, With Deepest Appreciation For Your Inspiring Courage In The Face Of The Enemy-Warmest Regards, Edith 5-19-53". Slight tanning of cover margins with small chip off upper left cover corner and same off back bottom right cover corner. Spine top has .5" split and bottom has 1" split. Contents NM. Second example seen. Comes with pair of 2-1/8" buttons issued in 1974 and from the Marshall Levin Collection with his grease pencil date "'74" on back of the one showing the Rosenbergs as illustrated by Picasso whose name can be seen in the artwork. This one reads "National Committee To Reopen The Rosenberg Case/156 Fifth Avenue New York, New York 10010". This one is Mint. Second button from same year reads "The Rosenbergs/Open The File." Back has narrow 1" line where cello did not fold perfectly under the metal back, but cello lays flat and button displays Mint. From the Marshall Levin Collection. Comes with Hake's COA.
