Item Description
Perry Rhodan is the name of a sci-fi series published in Germany since 1961, as well as the name of the series' main character. Having sold over one billion copies (in pulp booklet format) worldwide, it is the most successful sci-fi book series ever written. Offered here is 6-7/8x7.75" sheet of vellum w/original casein art by comic book and fantasy artist Gray Morrow, the co-creator of the Marvel Comics muck-monster Man-Thing. Art features great sci-fi scene of robot holding space woman, w/one hand about her throat. It is interesting to note that back reveals what appears to be Morrow's original art, featuring a less robotic adversary and woman wearing slightly different clothing. Signed in black ink at bottom right-hand corner. Art is for cover illustration of Kurt Brand's Ace 1974 sci-fi thriller paperback "Perry Rhodan 59 - Interlude On Siliko 5." This illustration was altered slightly and used for cover. Vellum has moderate aging and some rippling to sheet as it features two coats of paint. VF overall. Great scene. Comes w/paperback cover for comparison.
