Item Description
Original cardboard box contains 17" long painted wooden delivery truck. Box text includes "No. 472" and "Buddy 'L' Sales, New York, Inc." 1940s. Made during World War II of wood as all metal was needed for war efforts. Box shows scattered handling wear w/moderate age spotting to top flaps and along original paper tape strip. Fine overall. Toy features wooden peg driver figure w/painted wire arms that have hammer-like hands. When truck is pushed along, driver bounces up and down, causing him to strike metal bell in front of him. Wooden wheels w/metal hubs. Back has wooden door that lifts up. This door has "Jolly Joe's" name decal and both sides have large trademarked "Popsicle" decals w/Jolly Joe w/Popsicle. Decals have some scattered aging, left decal having some flaking at upper left to first letter of "Popsicle," o/w decals are mostly complete. Painted surfaces have some scattered crazing but toy is VF overall. One of the few boxed examples of this toy known.
