Item Description
7.75" tall unglazed figural two-piece terracotta tobacco jar w/polychrome decorations depicts the Big Bad Wolf from Little Red Riding Hood wearing Little Red Riding Hood's grandmother's clothing in an attempt to fool her. Made by Johann Maresch in Aussig, Austria, c. 1900. Underside has "JM 3610" designation. Jar has all over paint aging and scattered small rubs and one elbow has 1/8" flake, but this appears to be as made as original paint covers it. Interior retains strong tobacco aroma. Fine overall.
