Item Description
11.5x14.5" frame contains unlined 3.25x5.25" index card w/cloth matting. Card has handwritten note by Hall of Fame pitcher Cy Young. Note reads "Dr. R W Reynolds - Lived At Guide Rock 1885 - 6-7 Played Some Ball There Also Played In Red Cloud Games In Superior, Burr Oak Kan (illegible) (illegible) Oberlin, (illegible) Blue Hill And Other Towns." Young has signed his name below this very brief recount of his life before professional baseball. Note is framed w/color portrait of Young w/image of him pitching as well as etched brass plate that reads "Cy Young - Hall Of Fame 1937 - Career 511-313 - Active 1890-1911." During his 21-year baseball career, Young pitched for five different teams and established numerous pitching records, some of which have stood for over a century. Young compiled 511 wins, the most in Major League history and 94 ahead of Walter Johnson, who is second on the list. Young was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1937. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
