20.75x28.5" original first printing stiff paper poster for Sept. 21, 1967 benefit concert/Autumn Equinox celebration presented by Kenneth Anger at the Straight Theater, a San Francisco, CA. venue on Haight St. Poster designed by Randy Salas features Ancient Egyptian imagery w/Egyptian Sun God Ra ("666" appearing in the sun disc over his head) seated as a nude man (resembling Jack from a deck of playing cards) plays harp. Pair of Eye of Horus at top w/rose cross at center. "The Bringers Of The Light & The Straight Theater Present The Equinox Of The Gods," a benefit concert that featured "The Magick Powerhouse Of Oz - Kenneth Anger, The Congress Of Wonders, The Amazing Charlatans, The Mime Troupe, The Duncan Company, The Straight Dancers." Concert-goers were urged to "Come With Costumes." This concert was thought to have been a benefit to raise money to complete the film "Lucifer Rising," an experimental short film by Anger that was begun in 1966 w/the help of Bobby Beausoleil, leader of The Magick Powerhouse Of Oz. The film was abandoned shortly after this concert, Anger claiming Beausoleil had stolen the film stock, film equipment and Anger's car. Beausoleil disappeared at the same time as the film, later it emerged he was associated w/Charles Manson and was arrested for the murder of music teacher Gary Hinman. Poster has handling wear along margins w/scattered age toning, .25" tear to top center and horizontal fold at center. Fine overall but would frame for a nice display. Scarce.
