Item Description
15x20" artboard w/original onionskin overlay (w/penciled measurements) has original mixed media art depicting the main box lid art for 1960s Pyro Plastics "Table Top Navy" 1/1,200 Scale model kit No. C385-50, the battleship USS North Carolina (BB-55), the lead ship of North Carolina-class battleships. She was the first newly constructed US battleship to enter service during World War II, and took part in every major naval offensive in the Pacific Theater; her 15 battle stars made her the most highly decorated US battleship of World War II. Art shows the ship at sea. Art is signed by A.J. Rudisill, an internationally-acclaimed artist whose original acrylic paintings of landscapes and seascapes have been exhibited at major galleries throughout the country. Earlier in his career Rudisill provided stunning model kit box art, such as offered here. Art area measures 9x18". Sticker letters spelling "USS North Carolina" (though missing the I") have been placed under art and the name is penciled at bottom right below art. Large margins have some tape/tape residue and art has two small purple dots above just right of ship. Artboard has pinholes at corners. Overlay shows moderate wear but art remains Exc. and would look stunning framed. Impressive model kit art.
