Item Description
13.5x30" artboard has original mixed media art depicting the main box lid art for 1970s Lindberg motorized "US Navy Minesweeper Sentry" model kit. The USS Sentry (AM-299) was an Admirable-class minesweeper built for the US Navy during World War II. She served in the Pacific Ocean and was awarded six battle stars, a Navy Unit Commendation and a Presidential Unit Citation. Art shows the ship at sea, another minesweeper can be barely seen in bkg. as can distant battle. A geyser of water erupts behind the ship as a mine explodes and an unexploded mine floats off the starboard bow. Art is signed by John Steel. Art area measures 11x29". Large margins have some aging/wear but art remains Exc. and would look stunning framed. Large and impressive model kit art.
