Item Description
10x20" artboard has original mixed media art depicting the main box lid art for 1960s Pyro Plastics "Table Top Navy" 1/1,200 Scale model kit No. C392-50, the IMS Japanese battleship Musashi, one of two Yamato-class battleships built for the Imperial Japanese Navy. The Yamato-class ships were the heaviest and most powerfully armed battleships ever constructed. Musashi was sunk by multiple torpedo and bomb hits from American carrier aircraft on Oct. 24, 1944 during the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Art shows the ship at sea, the Imperial Japanese Navy standard flies aft. Art is signed by A.J. Rudisill, an internationally-acclaimed artist whose original acrylic paintings of landscapes and seascapes have been exhibited at major galleries throughout the country. Earlier in his career Rudisill provided stunning model kit box art, such as offered here. Art area measures 4.5x17". Paste-over w/"I.M.S. Musashi" under art at left w/ship's name is penciled at bottom right. Paste-over is aged and corners of artboard have some lt. wear but art remains NM and would look stunning framed. Impressive model kit art.
