Item Description
10x20" artboard has original mixed media art depicting the main box lid art for 1960s Pyro Plastics "Table Top Navy" 1/1,200 Scale model kit No. C393-50, the IMS Japanese Aircraft Carrier Zuikaku, a Shokaku-class aircraft carrier of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Her complement of aircraft took part in the attack on Pearl Harbor and she, along w/her sister ship Shokaku (see item #2466) fought in several of the most important naval battles of the war, finally being sunk during the Battle of Leyte Gulf. Art shows the ship at sea w/the Imperial Japanese Navy standard flying from superstructure. Art is signed by A.J. Rudisill, an internationally-acclaimed artist whose original acrylic paintings of landscapes and seascapes have been exhibited at major galleries throughout the country. Earlier in his career Rudisill provided stunning model kit box art, such as offered here. Art area measures 5x16.25". Spot of glue residue at lower right where sticker letters spelling the ship's name were placed; misspelled name is penciled at bottom right. Artboard has some corner tip wear but art remains NM. Impressive model kit art.
