Item Description
8.5x12.5". Two sided single page document signed. Dated June 8, 1783 and signed "Go: Washington" and counter signed by John Trumbull Jr. It reads in part "These Are To Certify That The Bearer Hereof William Peek Corporal In The First New York Regiment, Having Faithfully Served The United States Six Years And Being Inlisted For The War Only, Is Hereby Discharged From The American Army". Additionally Peak is awarded the "Badge Of Merit". Reverse has two long handwritten inscriptions and both appear to relate to a land deal. First is signed by Peek and includes his seal. Document has three horizontal and one vertical fold and some toning of paper consistent with age. 7/8" separation at upper right and 1/4" separation by the "g" in Washington's signature. Signature is bold and has only minor fading displaying Exc. A rare opportunity to obtain a relic from the cusp of America's independence. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
