Thin art board has 4.5x17.75” India ink image area for April 2. Barney is on a train trip to San Francisco w/a nervous passenger in all four panels. The man whispers “And She Weighs Six And A Half Pounds” in panel three. Barney yells “Shake!! My Horse Is A Brand New Papa Too!!” as he reaches for the startled man. Signed in ink “DeBeck” in panel four. Complete w/King Features copyright label on front and their property label on back. Top margin has blue pencil title “A Cause for Congratulations”. Margins have trace of lt. dust soil, image area will mat and frame to Exc. appearance. Classic and historic for birth of Barney’s horse Sparkplug’s son. From the Schechter Family Collection.
