Item Description
24.25x28.25" frame w/Plexiglas over artboard w/archival mat w/16.75x20.75" opening displaying image area in India ink and watercolor. c. 1970s for an unknown publication. Art features President Gerald Ford atop the Capitol Building, holding a roll of money, which causes New York City Mayor Abraham Beame (who was trying to get Ford to help bail out NYC from approaching bankruptcy) and New York Governor Hugh Carey to run on treadmill which is shaking down the taxpayer, dumping money into the Statue of Liberty's outstretched dress. A retired man and college graduate struggle to get to this money. The treadmill is being held up by New York bankers including David Rockefeller. Art has been signed in ink by Jack Davis at lower right. Image area is bright and NM. Framed and ready for display.
