Item Description
c. 1914. High quality wood frame w/double archival mat has pen & ink w/brush India ink art w/21.5x23.5” image area. Art is titled “Why, Hello!” in lt. pencil at lower left. Parlor scene has three women, one w/bags and valises seated in chair, greeting well-dressed older man. Art is signed in ink “Orson Lowell” at lower right corner. Possibly published in “Life” when it was a cartoon magazine. Clean and Exc. Orson Lowell (1871-1956) was a major illustrator who worked for magazines including “Century, Ladies Home Journal, Woman’s Home Companion, Saturday Evening Post”. Superb detail.
