Item Description
First is 4-5/8” tall with somewhat stained ribbon inscribed “Alternate.” Suspended is beautiful bronze medal repeating the “Lincoln/Grant/McKinley” portraits seen on the items in the previous lot. Back of the piece has circular design of curved ribbon segments each bearing the name and date of a Republican presidential nominee from Fremont in 1856 through McKinley in 1896. Center of the design reads “Philadelphia June 19th, 1900/Republican National Convention.” Mint except for the ribbon stain. Second at 4” tall is badge with cello insert “Ass’t. Sergeant At Arms.” Below ribbon has some color fade but no tears and suspension is bright and clean with celluloid domed center reading “Republican National Convention Phila, Pa. June 19, 1900.” This is set in a silver luster white metal suspension. Both are very limited issues.
