Item Description
5.25x17 Duotone art board has three India ink panels w/some lead pencil under drawing for Oct. 10. Nazi soldiers have prisoner count wrong and identify Captain Easy in panel three as “The Extra One”. Art is signed in ink by creator “Roy Crane” in panel three, complete w/NEA Service applied syndicate strip. Art board has been scored vertically in blank area between panels two and three as mailed to syndicate. Text in second word balloon of panel three has small remnant of yellowed cellophane tape. Actual art image area is Fine/VF. Nice example by the master of Duotone who created “Wash Tubbs” in 1924 and added “Captain Easy” to the storyline in 1929. Crane left Wash Tubbs in 1943 for “Buz Sawyer”.
