Item Description
5.5x7" cardstock program features nice art on front of soldier and sailor w/American flag held by Donald Duck in sailor uniform w/Minnie Mouse as nurse and Mickey Mouse as a soldier. Program was for "The Masquers Servicemen's Moral Corps" dinner that was held "In The Club" in Hollywood, CA. on Oct. 23, 1943. The host was Jack Warner (of Warner Bros. fame), who has boldly signed in pencil at upper left of second page (by image of Pete as bartender). Program interior is decorated w/several small images of Disney characters, including one of the Three Little Pigs as baker, Jiminy Cricket selling packs of cigarettes, Jim Crow playing banjo and back features Mickey seated at piano. Event had "Dinner And Entertainment In Honor Of Officers And Men Of The U.S. Army Engineers - A.S.T.U. 3928 And Officers Of The Chinese Heavy Bombardment Program." In addition to hosting military personnel, several Hollywood actresses were present at the event, and several have signed program, including Bette Davis, who has signed in black ink at lower inside across fold line, though this does not greatly detract from her signature. Other pencil signatures include - Ann Sheridan, Angela Greene, Dolores Moran and Cheryl Walker and Alexis Smith, who have both signed across the program fold line. Additionally, Academy Award-winning actor Charles Coburn has signed in pencil. Actress Joan Leslie has also signed in black ink. Signatures were obtained at this event by an attendee. Program shows moderate wear w/aging/dust soiling to front and 1" horizontal tear across fold line, slightly affecting Walker's signature and close to Leslie's signature. Top of second page has two .5" strips of aged tape. VG overall, but signatures remain nice. A unique signed piece. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
