Lot of four 8.5x11" programs for York, PA. "Gala Sports Night" held at William Penn Sr. High School and put on by The York Area Sports Meeting Association, Inc. Programs are for Jan, 29, 1964; Jan. 26, 1966; Feb. 1, 1967 and Jan. 31, 1968. Events allowed visitors to meet and talk w/various sports personalities. These programs contain the signatures of a total of 50 sports personalities. Year/number of signatures is as follows - 1964 (1), 1966 (13), 1967 (21), 1968 (15). Stars from various sports were featured, including MLB, NFL, NBA, fencing, judo, weightlifting, auto racing, archery, golf, table tennis, skiing, NCAA Lacrosse and NCAA Wrestling. NFL signatures of note include - HOF members Herb Adderley, Jim Parker, Jim Ringo, Raymond Berry, Bobby Mitchell and Johnny Unitas. Other signatures of note include - NBA HOF member Dolph Schayes and Weightlifting HOF member Bob Hoffman. MLB signatures of note include - HOF members Frank Robinson, Brooks Robinson, Jim Palmer, Whitey Ford and Phil Rizzutto. All have signed by/at their photo/biography. Highlight of lot is the signature of MLB HOF member Roberto Clemente in 1968 program, Clemente signing in blue ink by his photo. Programs have scattered aging/dust soiling w/some pinch creases to spines, but are Fine-VF overall. 1968 program w/Clemente's signature comes with JSA LOA. All signatures were obtained in-person by same sports fan at these events and all others are guaranteed by Hake's. A wonderful and wide-ranging instant collection of sports star autographs.
