Item Description
Pair, each is an 8.5x10.5" sheet of thin board w/fully painted art which is signed "Jorge S." Titles are "Almendares Park I (1908)" and "Almendares Park II (1919)." Incredibly detailed overhead depictions of the Scorpions home field showing games in progress. This includes filled stadium seating, homes and buildings in the bkg., street scenes w/vehicles, etc. The Scorpions were one of the oldest and most distinguished teams in the old Cuban League which existed from 1878 to 1961. In their early history they were known by their colors as The Blues. Later they adopted the name of Scorpions. In the 71 championships in which they participated they won 25 times. Both pieces of art are Exc. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
