Original 8x9.75" glossy photo from 1946 with photographer's impression stamp at lower right "Ted Moss." Incredible image of this historic barnstorming team dressed in suits and hats gathered around their specially marked and chartered airplane, "Flying Tiger Transport." Paige's name appears several times on the body of the plane including "Satchel Paige's All Stars" clearly visible on the open door from which Paige himself emerges. Other players are: Hilton Smith, Howard Easterling, Barney Brown, Sam Jethroe, Gentry Jessup, Hank Thompson, Max Manning, Othello Renfroe, Dizzy Dismukes, Rufus Lewis, Gene Benson, Buck O'Neill, Frank Duncan, Artie Wilson, Quincy Trouppe. A veritable who's who of Negro League stars. Photo has all over obvious wear including many creases and a pair of 1" margin tears w/clear tape repairs (1" piece of tape on front top left margin, other tape repairs are on the reverse). Slight margin trim on the left. Some surface paper adhered to back as once scrapbook mounted. Photo has since been laminated. Despite the defects, image is bold and distinct.
