Item Description
Original 3.5x4.5" glossy photo of Medwick and teammate (identified as "Tom" on the reverse) in uniforms w/gloves and seated on a ball field. Medwick entered professional baseball with the Scottdale Scotties of the Middle Atlantic League in 1930. He spent most of the next two seasons (from which the photo dates) with the Houston Buffaloes of the Texas League. He made his MLB debut with the Cardinals in 1932. What followed was an incredible baseball career as a 10-time All-Star, 1937 NL MVP and Triple Crown winner and World Series champion with the Cardinals in 1934. He was inducted into the HOF in 1968. Reverse has surface paper adhered from scrapbook mounting. Pair of .5" margin tears w/archival tape repairs on the reverse. Moderate handling wear/aging. Still glossy w/sharp image. Great early image. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
