Item Description
All are India ink on 7x9.25” Bristol art boards mounted on larger boards from prior framing. All feature highly detailed scenes w/cupids and romantic scenes w/hand inked captions. Includes “A Love Game” w/couple playing tennis signed “J.A.M.”, numerous brides and grooms going into church titled “The Sum of All Philosophy” signed “J.A. Mitchell”, and cupid couples parting w/scenes titled “Spring, Summer, Autumn” signed “J.A. Mitchell”. All were published in “The Summer School Of Philosophy At Mt. Desert”. Bristol boards have lt. dust soil here and there w/a few minor scuffs in blank areas, otherwise all will frame to Fine/VF appearance. Mitchell (1945-1918) co-founded and was editor of the original “Life” magazine in 1883. He authored several books and founded New York City’s Fresh Air Fund for needy children w/Horace Greeley.
