Item Description
Large 8.25" tall (12" to top of thick wire handle) tin litho container/pail w/lid. Made in Liverpool, England by E.T. Gee & Sons, mid-1920s. This company also produced a smaller Felix toffee container w/same images, but this larger piece features not one but two bands of tiny walking Felix figures at top and bottom w/sides having two different Felix scenes. One is beach w/Felix family posing for photograph while other shows Felix riding horse through fence as angry boy chases them. Lid features same full body image of Felix w/this pail as was used on smaller container. Exterior has some scattered wear in the form of small nicks/scratches. Rim and edges of lid show more moderate wear. Interior has luster loss and some scattered oxidation. Fine overall. Among the finest pails ever produced and one of the most desired, especially in this condition. Doug & Pat Wengel Collection, this is the actual example shown in their book "Comic Character Metal Sand Toys."
