Item Description
3.5x5.25" w/glossy photo front and postcard back. We believe there are 10 in this set despite less being listed elsewhere. In our March 2013 auction we sold a lot of 10 different (including Salazar and all from the Merkin collection) for $2,656. Front features facsimile signature as well as text block at bottom left "Cortesia De Kellogg's Corn Flakes." Reverse has ink stamp reading "Asoc Nac De Peloteros/Profesionales De Cuba" along w/image of a glove, baseball and crossed bats. Reverse has typed mailing address, postmark and some surface paper spots adhered to it as once scrapbook mounted. Front image remains bold and sharp. Salazar is in his Almendares Scorpions uniform. He is a member of both the Cuban and Venezuelan HOF. His career stats include 112-78 as a pitcher in the Mexican League and 35-24 as a pitcher in Cuba. He hit .382 in the Negro Leagues, third all time behind Chino Smith and Larry Doby. He had batting titles in three countries and was regularly in his league’s top ten in both average and ERA. All cards in this set are scarce. Designated by SGC as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA.
