Item Description
19-5/8x19-5/8" print on heavy art paper features classic art by noted underground comix artist Robert Crumb as featured on Big Brother & The Holding Company's 1968 album "Cheap Thrills." In addition to setting the stage for Janis Joplin's brief but memorable singing career, this major label release brought the talents of Crumb to a much wider audience than the readers of "East Village Other" (the New York City Underground newspaper that begin publishing Crumb's comic strips in 1967) or "Zap Comics," then just starting out. Phil Viala/La Seranne, 2002. Lower left has been hand-numbered "24/150" in pencil and print has been signed at lower right by Crumb in pencil. Exc.
