Item Description
The Habana club was one of the oldest and most distinguished baseball teams in the old Cuban League existing 1878-1961. Habana - representing the city of Havana - was the only team to play in the League every season of its existence and was one of the most successful franchises, winning 30 championships of the 74 in which they participated. In their early history they were known by their colors as The Reds, later adopting the name of Leones, or Lions. Offered here is 27x38" satin-like fabric banner w/stitched felt lettering (which translates to "Havana Champions") and large lion's head felt patch w/embroidered stitching and inked detailing. 1940s. Banner has some fold lines and shows some scattered wear/staining w/small hole just left of lion's face at center and some areas of wear resulting in thinness just below lion image. Fine. Comes w/30.5" long felt pennant w/silk-screened images of lion, baseball bats and ball as well as Spanish text. Pin holes at left corners and tip, but o/w clean and Fine/VF.
