Item Description
Pair of 9x11.5" and 9.5x12.5" slipcases w/embossed foil-stamped signature of noted Tarzan illustrator J. Allen St. John (1872-1957). Both were published by Vanguard Productions and are sumptuously illustrated throughout w/St. John's art. "Grand Master Of Adventures - The Drawings Of J. Allen St. John" was published 2005 and collects his pen/ink/pencil illustrations, some of which were featured in pulp magazines of the 1920s and 1930s. NM. "Grand Master Of Fantasy - The Paintings Of J. Allen St. John" was published 2009 and collects his fantasy and sci-fi paintings, some of which were featured in novels and pulp magazines. This was part of a deluxe hardcover limited edition of just 350 that were signed by authors Stephen D. Korshak and J. David Spurlock on inside front cover. Book comes w/publisher's promotional postcard and was also issued w/a 16-page bonus portfolio (not included). NM. From the collection of comics and illustration historian Brian M. Kane.
