Item Description
Published in "Cracked" #153 in Sept. 1978. Lot consists of complete six-page story on thin artboards measuring 13.75x17-5/8" w/India ink and ink wash original art by John Severin. "The Happy Dazes' Close Encounters Of The Third Kind" spoof both the "Happy Days" TV series and "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind" sci-fi film. First page features the Happy Days group at Al's discussing heading to the local lovers lane, where they encounter Fonzie (referred to here as "Funzie") on his motorcycle w/his date. A pair of glowing lights in the sky chase them until a UFO lands in front of them and an army of tiny Fonz and biker girls emerge from ship. A flashback explains Fonz wanted to clone men for the planet Ultra Kools' females. Narrowing down a list that included John Travolta (who is pictured), the women choose Fonzie. All captions and word balloons feature paste-over text. Each page has inked note at top w/story name/page number . Margins have some editorial notes. Pages have pin holes at top center w/some lt. even aging/handling wear but are VF overall w/Exc. art. Superb and dense graphics throughout w/much humor and great likenesses.
