Item Description
Original cardboard box w/illustrated lid contains 12.75" long tin litho rocketship made in Japan by Masudaya for the Japanese market, 1970s. Box shows obvious wear w/a number of creases and scattered dust soiling. VG. Rocketship has figural vinyl pilot figure of Kamen Rider (also known as Masked Rider), a tokusatsu (any live-action film or TV drama that features considerable use of special effects) superhero series and weekly sci-fi manga created by Shotaro Ishinomori. The TV series debuted April 3, 1971 and ran until Feb. 10, 1973 before continuing on in a vast number of follow-up series that continue to this day. Kamen Rider is complete w/fabric scarf around neck, though this has faded w/age. Rocketship's lithography features great image of Kamen Rider on his motorcycle as well as images of supporting characters and villains including Kumo-Otoko (Spider Man) and others. Aside from scarf fade and some paint wear to tips of antenna, toy is Exc. Works, and when in operation, rolls forward while emitting plinking sound.
