Item Description
3.25x5.5" generic postcard postmarked July 1 ,1951 with a young Richard Merkin's address in ink on the obverse and Rube Walker's signature on the reverse. Walker was a catcher in MLB over the course of 10 years with the Chicago Cubs and the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers. He was the replacement catcher for an injured Roy Campanella when Bobby Thompson hit his infamous "shot heard round the world" in 1951. He went on to have a long and successful career as a pitching coach. This postcard shows scattered light wear and aging. VF-Exc.
