Item Description
First printing 14.25x22" stiff paper poster for May 10, 1968 concert at Fillmore East in New York, NY featuring the Jimi Hendrix Experience and although not credited, opening act Sly & The Family Stone. Exceptional art by David Byrd, who has signed in black ink at bottom center. This image is considered among the classics of psychedelia w/an eye popping portrait of Hendrix at center, flanked by portraits of Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell. Some minor corner tip bumps. Poster was framed and has slight even fade, w/the extreme edges of the outer margins about 20% darker. Some lt. handling at bottom but still displays VF overall. The spectacular psychedelic design caught the eye of Hendrix who asked artist Byrd to produce a tour blank to be used for his concerts in 1969. A scarce and desirable poster from the height of the legendary guitarist's career.
