Item Description
Vintage 4x6" Type 1 photo shows MLB player Rick Ferrell (1905-1995), who was a player, coach, scout, and executive. He played for 18 seasons as a catcher for the St. Louis Browns, Boston Red Sox, and Washington Senators. Regarded as one of the best catchers in baseball during the 1930s and early 1940s, Ferrell and his brother were selected to play for the AL team in the inaugural 1933 MLB All-Star Game held on July 6, 1933. Ferrell was elected to the Baseball HOF in 1984. Photo shows him posing in Red Sox uniform and has been signed in blue ink, Ferrell adding "To Leo - With Best Wishes" inscription. Back has stamped information including Ferrell's name and "Geo. Burke" stamped name/address of famous sports photographer whose work included many of the images used to make the 1933-1935 Goudey baseball cards. Photo has some minor corner foxing and is o/w Exc. Comes with Hake's COA and PSA/DNA LOAs (for photo and autograph) and JSA COA.
