Item Description
Vintage 4x6" Type 1 photo shows MLB player Joe Medwick (1911-1975), who was a left fielder for the St. Louis Cardinals during the "Gashouse Gang" era of the 1930s, he also played for the Brooklyn Dodgers (1940-1943, 1946), New York Giants (1943-1945) and Boston Braves (1945). In 1937, Medwick won the NL Triple Crown. Elected to the Baseball HOF in 1968, Medwick became a member of the inaugural class of the St. Louis Cardinal HOF in 2014. Photo shows him posing in Giants uniform and has been signed in blue ink, Medwick adding "To Loren - Best Wishes" inscription. Back has handwritten and stamped information including Medwick's name and "Geo. Burke" stamped name/address of famous sports photographer whose work included many of the images used to make the 1933-1935 Goudey baseball cards. Photo has some minor corner foxing and is o/w Exc. Comes with Hake's COA and PSA/DNA and JSA LOAs.
