Item Description
16-3/8x17.25" vellum sheet w/mixed media original art for prototype sign promoting 1940s Thompson's Malted Milk premium. Art features detailed image of premium box lid showing six different airplanes (though hand-lettered text reads "Makes 8 Models - Hangar - Games And Anti-Air Craft Gun." Four additional panels on box lid shows Anti-Air Craft gun set up to shoot planes, children playing game, model planes outside hangar and boy flying plane. Hand-lettered text reads "Get This Airplane Construction Set Free With" beside can of Thompson's Malted Milk image. Heavy horizontal crease at center. Sheet shows moderate handling wear and is Fine overall. Comes w/10-7/8x17.75" thin cardboard box flat w/sides and main panels featuring all original art w/hand-lettered text. Box prototype is incredibly detailed, even more so than image shown on sign prototype. Back panel has pasted sheet featuring original art for "Thompson's 'Game Of Flying Blind'" which features illustrations of airplane at hangar as well as night scenes of train about to cross bridge over river. Board features various spots on travel path w/hand-lettered text. Scattered handling wear/aging w/some glue staining to side panels. Main panels remain clean and display VF. One of the neatest Gold prototype lots we have ever offered. Unique. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold and comes with LOA.
