Item Description
Pair of vellum sheets both featuring mixed media original art for proposed 1930s Kellogg's "Viking Ship" punch-out premium folder. 15-3/8x21" sheet features rough preliminary design of the punch-out folder at right, w/"Kellogg's" name and hand-lettered "Viking Ship" title along w/"Model Of The Life Erikson And Cut Outs Of Viking Warriors, Etc." text. Additional hand-lettered pencil text noting "Each Folder Will Contain Model Of Viking Ship And Stand Ups Of Viking Warriors, Shields And Other Viking Material. Image of Viking Warrior w/horned helmet, shield and spear as well as Viking Woman at left. Vertical and horizontal folds at center. Sheet has scattered corner tip wear w/moderate creasing at upper right. 16x19.75" sheet features wonderfully detailed image of "Model Of Viking Ship With Furled Sail" as noted by hand-lettered pencil text at lower right. Vertical and horizontal folds at center. Sheet has scattered corner tip wear w/moderate creasing at upper right. Sheets are Fine overall, but art remains clean, bright and Exc. Comes w/19" long two-sided paper cut-out of the Viking ship featuring concept art that looks very similar to ship shown on prototype sheet w/exception of this ship being depicted w/sail unfurled. All mixed media original art. Backs have glue staining which does not affect art sides. Moderate wear to necks of the ship's dragon figurehead. Left side has small tear and crease across bow. Fine overall. Lot also includes complete pieces to assemble 18.5" long premium ship, all featuring mixed media original art w/wonderful airbrushed highlight. Parts show some scattered lt. wear and are VF overall. Comes w/cut-out arrow-shaped sign w/hand-lettered text noting "With Purchase Of 2 Packages Of." Exc. Extensive and unique lot.
