Item Description
11-3/8x16-1/8" sheet of vellum features lead/colored pencil original art for "Fireball Twigg" comic strip in which he promotes series of "Make Believe Buttons" issued as premiums by Post's "Grape-Nut Flakes" during the 1950s. Bottom of sheet features panel w/"Grape-Nuts Flakes" box image and additional image of Fireball Twigg w/rough images of several premium buttons. All text is hand-lettered and includes "Boys! Girls! What Do You Want To Be? Play 'Make Believe' With These New Colorful Metal Make Believe Buttons - Collect Them - Wear Them - Trade Them - A 'Make Believe' Button In Each Package." Edge of vellum sheet have been folded under and were at one point used to glue sheet to another for display purposes. Offered here is just the vellum sheet, which has some glue staining on back, but does not affect front's display. Some scattered aging/ handling wear w/a number of edge creases. Fine overall. Comes w/11-5/8x16.5" stat featuring designs for 45 different buttons, of which 14 have been hand-colored. Some include - "Crooner, Movie Star, Midget Racer, Miss America, Junior Nurse, Northwest Mountie," etc. VF overall. Unique. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold and comes with LOA.
