Item Description
12.5x20.25" artboard has pen and ink original art for premium prototype sign advertising premium spaceship that is held together w/rubberband and hums when swung through the air. 1950s. Hand-lettered text reads "Free Of Extra Cost! Humming Whirl-O-Rocket - Swing In A Circle And Hear It Hum!" text along w/illustration of children playing w/ "Actual Size" spaceship (which is a paste-over stat). Artboard has attached vellum overlay w/additional mixed media original art depicting the children in color along w/bold red "Free - Whirl-O-Jet" text, noting how premium's name was changed from "Whirl-O-Rocket" to "Whirl-O-Jet." Comes w/loose paste-over stat pair for art, to cover "Rocket" name portion (as shown on bottom image). Slight glue staining at this area, Artboard has scattered lt. handling wear/dust soiling to margins and is Fine overall w/Exc. art. Both this sign and the premium were produced (we sold a sign/premium pair in our Nov. 2017 auction). Unique. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold and comes with LOA.
