Item Description
3-5/8x6x4.25" tall tin litho space tank w/painted tin half body robot driver that looks like Robby the Robot from the classic Sci-Fi film "Forbidden Planet." In fact, in that film, Robby drives a similar vehicle to version of this toy's design. Made in Japan by Yoshiya, 1950s. This is battery-operated version w/metallic blue robot driver figure. Toy is nicely designed, w/detailed tank designs and simulated view screen behind driver showing rocket in space. Bump-and-go action w/swiveled front wheels. Comes w/exact replacement plated antenna that folds down by Tin Toy Works of Allentown, PA. Working, w/translucent plastic accents on face that light up. Some scattered paint nicks/scratches w/spots of oxidation along top rear edge or tank "treads." Fine overall, but still nice for display.
