Item Description
3.50x5-3/8" vintage matte postcard pictures Negro League pitching great, Roy Partlow, during the early 1950s. Photographer's stamp on the back reads "Liberia De La Rosa - Jose Trujillo Valdez 21". Partlow was best known for being one of the top pitchers for the Homestead Grays dynasty of the late 1930s and early 1940s. In addition to his hurling exploits, Partlow was also a significant contributor to the team's offense, batting near .300 for several seasons. After leaving the Grays, Partlow joined the Philadelphia Stars, where he continued his success for several more seasons throughout the late 1940s. Partlow concluded his career spending two years with Granby of the Canadian Provincial League and posting records of 7-2 and 8-3 for the 1951 and 1952 seasons. In addition to the photographer's stamp on the back of the postcard, Partlow is identified in period ink along with a 1951-52 notation. Exc. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
