Item Description
3.25x5.5" vintage glossy postcard depicting Minnie Minoso in his Cleveland Indians uniform in a batting position. Minoso was one of the few great ballplayers whose playing career overlapped from the pre-integration Negro Leagues with the New York Cubans to Major League Baseball. Prior to Minoso's all-star seasons with the Chicago White Sox during the early 1950s, he played for two years in the Pacific Coast League for San Diego during 1949-50. Minoso finished with a lifetime MLB batting average of .298 along with 186 home runs and 205 stolen bases. Often mentioned for future Baseball Hall of Fame consideration, Minoso was also an international star, spending several winter league seasons in both Mexico and Cuba. The missing zip code from the publisher's address on the back indicates that this postcard dates to the late 1950s or early 1960s. Exc. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
