Item Description
3.5x5.5" vintage glossy postcard depicting a pair of Chicago Cubs (NL) ballplayers posing in full 1930 uniforms along with their bats. Future Hall of Famer, Hack Wilson, stands on the left next to an unidentified teammate. Wilson would have one of the greatest offensive seasons in MLB history in 1930, finishing with a league leading total of 56 home runs and an all-time MLB record 191 RBI's. Thanks in large part to Wilson's heroics, the Cubs had a strong second place finish that season with a record of 90-64. Although Hack's career only encompassed nine full seasons, he was so dominant during this time period that he would be elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1979 by the Veterans Committee. Wilson finished with a career batting average of .307 along with 244 home runs and 1,063 RBI's. Divided postcard back is clean and unused. Exc. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
