Item Description
3-3/8x4.5" glossy press photo picturing Cuban baseball great, Alejandro during the middle of his professional baseball career with the Cienfuegos ball club. Crespo played winter ball in his native land of Cuba for fourteen seasons, primarily with Cienfuegos, compiling a lifetime batting average of .277. Crespo led the Cuban League in batting with a .326 average in 1948-49, also batting over .300 during both the 1939-40 and 1942-43 seasons. Also starring for Toreon in Mexico for a number of seasons, Alejandro fashioned a lifetime .321 batting average in that country. The New York Cubans also offered Crespo an opportunity to play ball in the Negro Leagues during the 1940 and 1946 seasons. Back of photo exhibits handwritten player and team identifications. Exc.
