Item Description
3-3/8x5-3/8" vintage glossy postcard depicting 16 ballplayers in full uniform inside composite ovals along with two gentlemen dressed in formal attire. All individuals have been identified by name underneath their respective images. Photographer's credit at the bottom of the photo reads "M.C. Weasner, Photo'gr. Buffalo, N.Y." The 1909 Rochester club finished in first place with a record of 90-61 under manager John Ganzel. A total of 18 future Major Leaguers played for the Hustlers team during 1909, including: Goat Anderson, Emil Batch, John Butler, Tex Erwin, John Ganzel, Ed Holly, Billy Maloney, Fred Osborn, Harry Pattee and Hack Simmons. Some minor staining is present on the front of the postcard, affecting a couple of the player photos on top. Back of postcard has a bit of minor staining and includes a hand written message but was never mailed out. VF. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
