Item Description

Photo credit stamp on back goes to Handy & Boesser Photographers Press Service, Newark, NJ. Nicknamed Dr. Cyclops because of his thick glasses, Manning was one of the leading power pitchers of the 1940s. During the Eagles championship season of 1946, Manning posted a phenomenal record of 11-1 during league games and finished second in the league in strikeouts to Hall of Fame teammate, Leon Day. Manning posted a record of 15-6 for Newark the following year and gain selection to the East-West All-Star Game. Photo image clarity is excellent but has an approximate 1-1/4" piece missing from the upper left-hand corner along with significant surface wrinkles and creasing throughout. Back exhibits four vintage pieces of tape securing small tears in the paper as well as general foxing and a few spots of paper loss. Fair/Good.
