Item Description
8.25x10" original glossy photo depicting Negro League great, Terris McDuffie, standing in center of two gentlemen, one being designated on the photo notes on back as Ramon Tallaj, other individual is unknown. Back of photo also indicates a date taken of April 19, 1953. McDuffie began his Negro League career with the Birmingham Black Barons in 1930 and would go on to play for just about every important NL team of the era, including the Baltimore Black Sox, Atlantic City Bacharach Giants, Newark Dodgers, Brooklyn Eagles, New York Black Yankees, Philadelphia Stars, Homestead Grays, Hilldale Daisies and Cuban Stars (West). Terris was well loved because he was a two-way player, pitching and playing the outfield on his off days from the mound. Photo image is excellent, two vertical creases run across the photo but does not distract from the individuals pictured. Back of photo has both handwritten notes as well as typed. Fine/VF. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
