Item Description
8-1/8x10-3/8" matte paper premium depicting the 1953-54 Almendares baseball team. All individuals pictured are identified at the bottom of the photo. All players except for the one in the top row, far right, have signed the photo. Signatures have not been authenticated by a third-party company but give the appearance that they would be authentic, but we cannot guarantee that. This ball club would win the Cuban League title for 1953-54. Manager Bobby Bragan guided the Scorpions to the pennant, ending Habana's streak of three consecutive league titles. Almendares was led by Rocky Nelson, who won the league batting title (.352). Earl Rapp led the league with 51 RBI and finished tied for the lead in home runs with 10. Cliff Fannin won 13 games with a 1.45 ERA to earn MVP honors. Photo exhibits significant creasing along with an approximate 5" tear in the upper right cornet, which has been repaired with vintage tape on the back. Good/VG.
